LOOT in an internal currency that it is used to fund films and TV shows that cannot be made within the typical Hollywood ecosystem.
Artists need to eat and pay bills just like every other human. Many movies and TV shows require licensing fees to be paid in order for the streaming rights to be made available to a streaming platform for a few years. Exclusive streaming rights cost more than non-exclusive. Most streaming services pay millions of dollars for streaming rights and takes a guess as to whether or not the subscribers want to watch the content. At LOOR, you get to make that decision on your own.
Pre-production projects are films or TV shows that exist in very early stages. This could be a completed script, or entire pitch deck. In some cases an artist may have filmed a few scenes, or created an entire trailer. Once the funding goal is reached the artist will then have their LOOT converted to cash and begin production of the film or TV series. In most cases a movie can take anywhere from six months to a year to complete, the film maker will keep you updated on the progress all the way until Premiere night.
Every project that is funded on LOOR will be viewable to every monthly subscriber whether they funded it or not. LOOR is an all you can eat buffet, not a Patreon with gated off channels.
As LOOR gains monthly subscribers, more projects will get funded and created, and the amount of streaming content will grow over time. Hollywood was not built in a day, and it won't be defeated in a day either.
If after a set amount of time a project is not successfully funded then the LOOT spent on that project is returned to the users, this LOOT BOOST can then be spent boosting other projects of the subscribers choice.
We want to see projects funded and artists paid well. So to encourage people to be active on the site and to check in regularly on new projects your LOOT expires if not used. Expired LOOT is then banked and used to boost other projects and incentivize new users.
100% of all LOOT used to fund projects goes directly to the artist and their project.
That's the eventual plan, though we're still gauging when/how to invest in it since we don't know how hair-trigger the "cancel from the app store" threat is.
